I received this copy from the publisher (REUTS Publications) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Gambit is a super cute, fun read about a society where powers are cherished and "Normals" are of no use to anyone. Willow is a barmaiden who hides her ability and her appearance from everyone. She doesn't know who she is. Only that she was given to her family as a baby to be kept safe. One day, Reece, a Core Commander, comes to their village. He's evil and murderous and he knows who Willow is. The daughter of one of the most prominent families in the Core, and an integral part in a peace treaty. She'd been switched at birth with Morrigan, the girl who's been posing as Willow all her life. Reece takes Willow out of her 19th century-esque home and brings her to the Core. An ultra-modern, rich city. There she is not only targeted by rebel groups, but also arranged to marry a boy she's never even met. Alone , homesick, and lost, Willow finds herself attracted to the cruel, egotistical Reece, and thrown into multiple near death attacks. The one problems I had with this book were, (1) the Ritters' decriptions - I could never really picture them- and (2) the ending. There was no ending!! I know that there's another book in the series to pick off where this one left off but still, It's so annoying!
